Our story began in 1591 with John Skynner in Norwich. The firm evolved through key partnerships, notably with John Hawkins (the “King of Hitchin”) in 1832, becoming known as Hawkins & Co. In the 20th century, Arthur Russell Jones established A Russell Jones & Co in Welwyn Garden City (later becoming Russell Jones & Co). This firm merged with Hawkins & Co in 1987, creating Hawkins Russell Jones (later HRJ Law).
Meanwhile, in the early 1970s, Foreman Laws was founded in Hitchin by Martin Foreman and Geoffrey Laws, quickly establishing a reputation for expertise, particularly in commercial conveyancing. Foreman Laws also acquired CGA Trustee and Executor Company Limited, which continues to operate under our management.
In April 2013, HRJ Law and Foreman Laws merged to form HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors, the firm we are today. This successful merger was built on a shared commitment to excellent client care, clear communication, and experienced advice.
